How do you calculate the real-world range of an electric car?

Unlike a combustion engine car, the energy consumption of an electric car is measured in kWh/100 km. On average, it is 22 to 30 kWh/100 km. However, several variables must be taken into account to calculate it more accurately. Among the most important is the type of road. A car equipped with a 50kWh battery, for example, can travel less than 200km on a highway compared to up to 300km on a national road. Besides this, driving style also plays a role. According to several series of tests, a more experienced driver can achieve 10% more range compared to someone who is not yet very familiar with an electric car.

Other factors that also influence the range of an electric car include the number of passengers and the climate (use of air conditioning or heating).
