Publié le 9 December 2025 par Pistonelle Vectalia

Initially, the pit bike was a mini motorcycle designed for children. But over time, thanks to its size and practicality, it became widely used to facilitate transportation during large outdoor events. And from there, it gradually evolved into a discipline in its own right.

A brief history of the pit bike: Historically, Honda was the originator of the pit bike. In 1961, the company developed the Z100, a small four-stroke motorcycle with a 50cc engine. It was primarily intended to introduce children to riding motorcycles on their own property. Recognizing the potential of their mini motorcycle, Honda decided to produce a version of the Z100 for the general public, which was named the Z750M. Very quickly, it became very popular in the USA and eventually achieved worldwide success. Pit Bike

The differences between a pit bike and a dirt bikePeople often confuse pit bikes with dirt bikes. Understanding the difference between the two disciplines is quite simple. Both are motocross bikes, but they are simply not the same size. Besides that, there’s also the speed. A dirt bike can reach speeds of over 125 km/h, while the top speed of a pit bike is around 90 km/h.
