The Renault 5 celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion, the French manufacturer is offering a revamped, electric version of this automotive icon! The R5 Diamant concept, developed in collaboration with designer Pierre Gonalons, is a modern, all-electric tribute to the original model. An iconic model reinvented
For the rest, the Renault 5 Diamond has been equipped with a 100% electric motor and a three-position sequential gear selector (forward, neutral, and reverse). The headlights and taillights are faceted like precious stones. The wide wheels are inherited from the Alpine version and have been smoothed. At the center of each wheel is the sunburst, a motif dear to the car’s creator, Pierre Gonalons. The steering wheel has received a special design, crafted with marble on carbon fiber.
This new electric version of the Renault 5 is an intriguing reinvention of an iconic model. It will certainly turn heads with its unique design features, while retaining the feel of the original. Renault is not releasing technical specifications for the R5 Diamond.
But for now, Renault isn’t releasing any technical specifications for the R5 Diamant. We can only assume the manufacturer has drawn from its usual parts bin. Unless it’s one of the original experimental R5 electric cars, but that seems highly unlikely.
In any case, this new electric version of the Renault 5 is sure to be a hit with car enthusiasts and collectors.
