Mont Saint-Michel shuttle: everything you should know

Mont Saint-Michel is a tourist site that attracts nearly 3 million visitors each year. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its main attraction remains the Mont Saint-Michel Abbey.

Since 2012, access to the site has been prohibited for cars. To get there, you must take a shuttle bus.

Mont Saint-Michel shuttle: which line to take?

Since you won’t be using your car much once you’re there, you can take the bus. You have two options:

Take a regular bus line

If you arrive at Pontorson train station, to get to Mont Saint-Michel, you will need to take line 8 of the Normand NOMAD bus service. As this is a regular line, you should check the timetable beforehand. Taking a private bus

If you plan to travel to Mont Saint-Michel from Paris, the easiest option is to take a Flixbus private bus or book a ride with Autocars FH Tourisme.

How to use the “Le Passeur” shuttle?

Once you arrive at the site, you can take the free “Le Passeur” shuttle to visit Mont Saint-Michel. Operating between 7:30 am and midnight, the journey takes only 12 minutes.

While accessible for people with reduced mobility, certain conditions apply to using this shuttle. Firstly, pets are not allowed unless they are service animals or transported in a carrier. Also, due to current health restrictions, wearing a mask is mandatory throughout the journey.

The site currently offers paid parking accessible to all types of vehicles (city cars, SUVs, buses, motorhomes, etc.). Alternatively, to take advantage of free parking, the best option is to stay in one of the hotels located near the site.
